While I still love my grays and neutrals, I’ve added some stunning pops of color that mix well with core neutral pieces. The large camel leather sofa paired with these modern/ transitional accent chairs creates a beautiful canvas that you can add different pillows and decor to to totally change out your look if you get sick of it. The best part is that these pieces mix well with coastal, modern, contemporary or transitional decor and you can even use them in a bedroom or basement instead of the living room if you want!Read More
Our 30 Year Old Hodge Podge of Decor
So, I'm 30 (well, I will be in August) and I'm going thru a time in my decor(I know you can relate) where we have a really really nice things, but then we have a weird collection of stuff my husband came with (which has made its way mostly to the garage), the hammy-downs from our parents and grandparents. As I'm sifting through our miscellaneous "treasures" for the first time in 3 years since we moved to the Bronx, I'm made super aware of the following things:
1. Our styles change a lot over the past decade!
2. We live with various roommates, significant others or family members and we accumulate their stuff in addition to the stuff we bought together that isn't our style but somehow we ended up with it.
3. Our families give us a LOT of weird stuff they thing we will use but really don't even know what it does! I'm talking kitchen utensils that not even my Executive Chef husband can decipher.
4. We compromise our style for function and price.Read More

What is the main reason you hire an interior designer? To create a cohesive design that mixes colors, patterns and materials and create a cozy space. It is my FAVORITE part of my job. I love to create inspired designs that are functional for every day life with a busy family but so pretty that your home is the envy of all of your friends. The best part is- I do this on a budget that people can actually afford because I truly believe that everyone can have a well designed home.
In this post I'm going to share with you my tips to create a designer inspired look for your living room. You will learn how to mix match patterns and fabrics as well as finishes and paint. I will teach you my process to create your own mood board to visualize your new space. I am also including 6 mood boards to inspire your color palette and pattern play! You may choose to get samples and create this board with the real materials or you can make it digitally using Powerpoint (I use Photoshop but Powerpoint will work just the same for you here too!) If you are going to use pictures from you actual space on your digital mood board (vs ordering swatches) you should take them all during the same time of day (the lighting will be consistent) with as much natural light as possible so the images aren't too dark and it will read better.
Always think of your room in layers, doing this will break it down into small manageable pieces and create depth in the overall look. When I'm designing I always am looking for contrast. Here is an example- working from the floor up. If the flooring is dark- I choose a lighter rug (or something with bolder light colors and some darker if you have kids or pets). If the rug is lighter- the sofa can be darker. If the sofa is darker the walls can be lighter- and so on.Read More
Hey everyone! So I asked my Facebook group what their biggest struggle with is while decorating their house and the answer was unanimous; How do you accessorize?! Creating a warm and inviting space and displaying your personal possessions is what makes a house a home, but the biggest struggle is finding a way to arrange everything so it doesn't look cluttered and disorganized.Read More
There are plenty of online design services available out there- and I’ve done a little design work for a few of them so I know what they are about. Of course they are great for some, but there are a lot of restrictions set by these companies. They have rules for where the designer is allowed to source, how long the project should take and even who you are matched with. When you select an independent designer or firm that specializes in online interior design you get a personalized experience with all the perks of a local designer.Read More
